Oris Divers Titan Date 1000 m

I am a diver! Our wristwatch often conveys to the world who we are. A 300 m rated divers watch may seem to run of the mill, and those 600 m rated Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean watches will cost us just over US$3,000. Lets not even look at the Rolex SeaDweller and its younger brother the DEEPSEA.

You could make a statement with the Bell & Ross Hydromax divers watch with a water resistance rating of 11000 m. Priced at just under 3K, but often found in the market for less than 2K, it is a bargain. But, it is a unimposing 40mm wide QUARTZ watch (Hey! Its a Swiss ETA movement). The fact that a watch like this has to be a quartz since it is filled with a liquid called Hydroil which allows it to resist external pressure and the accumulation of helium may be a good topic of conversation around the coffee table. You could even mention that this watch has been all the way the down Marianas Trench (No, not this one, but one just like it!). Most likely, the Hydromax would not even rate a second look and the "11000 M" imprint on its dial would go unnoticed (Bell & Ross really needs to place this watch in one of their Instrument cases).

Oris Divers Titan Date 1000m. The Oris Diver Titan with its imposing 44mm titanium case, black and red bezel, black dial with marking reminiscent of a Omega Seamaster, and helium release valve at the 2 'clock position, will not have this problem. It looks like a divers watch. The sweeping hand movement of its 28,800 vibration per hour (4Hz) ETA derived Oris 733 movement will merit a closer look, and the "Water Resistant 1000 m/3281 ft" inscription on the bezel won't go unnoticed. Hey, it is a divers watch!

At a retail price of just over US$1000 for the rubber strap, and US$200 more for the steel bracelet, it will not break the bank. It takes you 400 m deeper than the Planet Ocean, at a third of the cost. It is a good value for money option.

It has the usual rotating divers watch bezel, date is displayed in a window at the 6 o'clock and a sapphire crystal glass cover for the dial. No penalties for not carrying a premium price on its sticker.

Now, if you can still find one of those even more imposing 47mm Oris Carlos Coste Limited Edition divers watches (2000 m water resistant) which is limited to a run of 2000 watches, and retails for a tad over 2K, with a rubber strap and steel bracelet as part of the package. That is even a better deal.
