The current model stainless steel Rolex Submariner with a black bezel (Model 16610) carries a Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of US$5,850. The almost identical looking Rolex Sea-Dweller which improves on the water resistance rating be increasing from 300 m water resistance to 1220 m water resistance and adds a helium release valve, but looses the cyclops lens adds a small premium to the price with an MSRP of US$6,225.
The newly announced Rolex Sea-Dweller DEEPSEA comes in larger at 43mm than the Submariner of the vanilla Sea-Dweller which both have a width of 40mm. Also new with the Sea-Dweller DEEPSEA is a ticker domed sapphire crystal glass, and titanium case back. Most importantly is the 3900 m water resistance rating. How much will all these cost?
Rumor is that British Authorized Distributors have confirmed the price in the UK will be £4750. That means the US dollar retail price will likely be between $9,000 to $9,500. Yikes! Here is hoping the rumors are wrong and the final retail price will be lower.
You are not likely to start seeing the Sea-Dweller DEEPSEA at Authorized Distributors shelves till end of the year. Gives you some time to save up.
July 11, 2010 update. The Rolex Sea-Dweller DEEPSEA currently has a suggested retail price of US$9,250. However, you should manage to get a 10-12% discount on this watch, or just over US$8K.
