Omega Seamaster Apnea

Apnea. Apnea is the technical term for suspension of breathing. Apnea diving is an extreme sport where attempt to dive to the greatest depth or stay under water for the longest period of time without the aid of diving equipment. The Omega Seamaster Apnea was design in conjunction with Apnea diver Jacques Mayol. The special feature which distinguishes the Omega Seamaster Apnea from its other diving watches are the seven discs found from the 9 o'clock to 3' o'clock positions of the watch.

These discs operate in conjunction with the watches chronograph function. Every minute that passes half a disc is filled, starting from the leftmost disc. After 14 minutes all the discs will be covered in red. The intention is to create an easier to read 14 minute counter. While this is useful to Apnea divers, it will also work fine for divers who use only a single tank of air, which will allow to only go under safely for not more than 15 minutes.

Specifications. The Omega Seamaster Apnea is a chronograph watch which uses self-winding the Omega 3601 movement. The Omega 3601 movement is a heavily modified ETA 2892-A2 movement. The watch has a 41mm diameter case which is water resistant to 300 meters. The chronograph function is fully functional at the watches maximum water resistance rating.

The watch is available with black or white dial and a steel bracelet of rubber strap.

About Omega SA. The forerunner of Omega was founded 1848, by Louis Brandt. The name Omega was first used in 1894. It was used as the name of one of the Louis Brandt brother’s watch movement calibers.
