Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref. 5296

Modern Calatrava. Patek Philippe has been updating several of its watches to fit todays market. The increased the case diameter of their Ref. 5119 and Ref. 5159 models. But one of their radical changes was introducing in their traditional Calatrava line with a watch with a decidedly modern dial. Patek Philippe Ref. 5296 was introduced with a blue themed "sector" type dial. Both the white gold (Ref. 5296G) and rose gold (Ref. 5296R) models have the same blue theme dial.

The "sector" dial

This radical design decision was well received by many, and apparently, disliked by a like number. This cause Patek Philippe to offer the same watch with a traditional Patek dial, with white or rose gold stick markers and hands.

Specifications. Whichever dial you prefer, the Patek Philippe Ref. 5296 is a excellent watch and a modern Calatrava. Patek used its self winding 324 S C movement in this watch. This movement produces 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz) and features a date display function. The watch has a case diameter of 38mm, which is big for a Calatrava.

Like a lot of Patek's newer releases, it features a clear case back.

When you pay this much for a movement,
it is nice to be able to look at it.
