Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse. Following the subtle elegance of the
Calatrava design, Patek Philippe launched the Golden Ellipse in 1968. Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse is available in white gold with a anthracite sunburst dial, yellow gold with a blue sunburst dial and yellow gold with a brown sunburst dial.

The case of these watches have thin 31 mm x 36 mm cases. Housed inside the case is Patek Philippes ultra thin Calibre 240 movement. The Calibre 240 is self-winding movement which is all of 2.53 mm thick. The Calibre 240 produces 21,600 vibrations per hour and has a 44 hour power reserve. Making these thin automatic movements is a Patek Philippe speciality, with its closest rival being the equally prestigous Vecheron Constantin company.

In order to make the movement ultra-thin and off-center mini-rotor is used. You can find a more detailed explanation and a clearer diagram of this technology in our previous article on the
Patek Philippe 5118/1G skeleton.
