IWC Ingenieur Double Chronograph Titanium

IWC Ingenieur Double Chronograph Titanium. IWC usually announces new watches during the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie. There is no rule saying that they can only announce new watches than. IWC recently announced their new Ingenieur Double Chronograph Titanium.

IWC Ingenieur line represents their tough watches designed to be used in adverse environmental conditions. Ingenieur Double Chronograph Titanium, as its name indicates, has a case made of titanium. Titanium combine the attributes of being  light, durable and does not cause skin allergies. The screw heads in the bezel’s five bores are coated in diamond-like carbon. The push-buttons and crown protector are coated in black rubber. Dial dial, is protective by sapphire crystal.

The watch has a large 45mm case with water resistance rated to 120 meters, and displays the day, and date and continuous seconds on its dial. In line with its "tough" status, it is supplied with a black rubber strap.

Split seconds chronograph (rattrapante). The Ingenieur Double Chronograph Titanium, is a double chronograph watch. It is the first watch in the Ingenieur line-up to do so. IWC has used this technology in their other watches, most notably in their pilots watches. The double chronograph feature basically means that it has a two "seconds" hand in the chronograph function, which allow the user to stop one hand, to measure lap times and other intermediate times, while the main second hand continues to measure the total time elapsed. The second hand split can be restarted, which causes it to join the main second hand and thus, multiple lap or intermediate times can be measured.  One hand  is used to measure intermediate times, while the main stopwatch hand continues to run: simply pushing the button at “10 o’clock” causes the two hands to start running synchronously again, meaning the user can alternate between intermediate and aggregate times as often as desired.

Two subdials, at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions allow the Ingenieur Double Chronograph Titanium to measure and display periods of elapsed time of up to 12 hours.

The 79230 calibre movement used in this watch is self-winding and features a 44 hour power reserve.
