SIHH 2012: IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph Ref. 3777

Incremental update. We wrote two weeks ago how IWC's Pilots and Spitfire chronographs watches, we used to be pretty much the same watch in different skins have been diversified. The new IWC Spitfire Chronograph Ref. 3878 has gone more for a cleaner more classic look with two sub-dials, and more upmarket with a flyback function. The new Pilot's Watch Chronograph Ref. 3777 is more in step with the previous model, the IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph Automatic.

The old...
...and the new.

IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph Ref. 3777. The new IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph Ref. 3777 is updated with the new look of the date window in the Pilot's Watch Family, displaying three dates in the date windows and has a larger 43 mm diameter case, up 1 mm from the previous model. It is now also available in a steel bracelet, and the Rose Gold model has been dropped.

Other than that, there are not many difference from the older model. It uses the same IWC Calibre 79320 mechanical self-winding movement used in the previous version. This is a basic chronograph movement which produces 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a respectable 44 hour power reserve.

About IWC. IWC or the the "International Watch Co. Schaffhausen" was founded by an American engineer from Boston, Florentine Ariosto Jones, in Schaffhausen, Switzerland in the year 1868. IWC Schaffhausen is notable for being the only major Swiss watch factory located in eastern Switzerland, as the majority of the well-known Swiss watch manufacturers are located in western Switzerland.
