James Bond 007 50th Anniversary Collector's Piece. The James Bond 007 50th Anniversary Collector's Piece has been created in two sizes, 41 mm and 36.25 mm. The cases of the watches are made of stainless steel and they feature new ceramic bezel rings used in more recent released by Omega replacing the older aluminum rings. The number "50" is marked in red, in contrast to the white markers, as a reminder that the watch is celebrating a special anniversary.
The black dial features a 007 monogram. The 36.25 mm watch, intended for women, has ten with a diamond index at the 7 o'clock position, which is an appropriate place for a watch in made tribute to agent 007. Date is displayed by window at 3 o'clock.
36.5mm version. Note the diamond at 7 o'clock |
Inside, both versions feature OMEGA’s calibre 2507 self-winding movement with the a Co-Axial escapement, intended to reduce wear and tear on the movement. The movement is a certified as a chronometer, which means a maximum deviation of not more than +4 seconds or -6 seconds per day by the COSC.
Its screw-in case back is stamped with a gun-barrel design. A "bullet" decoration fixed on the rotor that can be viewed through a central sapphire crystal case back.
The watch also has a unidirectional rotating bezel, a typical feature of modern dive watches and a helium escape valve allows helium atoms to escape during decompression, which is important for divers operating from diving bells. The watch is rated as water resistant up to 300 metres.
This watches are limited edition releases, with the 41 mm version being produced in a limited edition of 11'007 pieces and the 36.25 mm version in a limited edition of 3'007 pieces.
Why a Seamaster 300m? We are a bit surprise by the use of the Seamaster Diver 300m, as the watch used by Daniel Craig in Quantum of Solace was a Seamaster Planet Ocean, with a limited edition watch having been released for that film.
We also do feel that Omega has released too many 007 limited edition watches over the years.
There is a very special limited edition watch that we expect Omega to release at BaselWorld 2012. Check back here in a few days for that.
