Will Rolex's Formula Connection Yield a New Daytona?

For the past two years I have been speculating that Rolex might be releasing a new  Rolex Cosmograph Daytona. The reason for the speculation was the arrival of key anniversaries for the Cosmograph Daytona. The year 2011 was the 50th Anniversary of the Rolex Cosmograph, and 2012 is the 50th Anniversary of the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona. According to OysterInfo, the Rolex Cosmograph was launched in 1961, while the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona was launched in 1962. In 2011, Rolex did launch a new variant of the Cosmograph Daytona, with a ceramic dial. This has been the most significant change in the look of the Daytona since 1988. Still with these two significant milestones having past, no new Cosmograph Daytona. This is not really surprising. Roles celebrates that anniversaries of some of its watches, and ignores others.

The year 2013 brings a new development insofar as Rolex racing oriented Chronograph Daytona watch is concerned  Rolex is now the official timekeeper of Formula One.  The new partnership was announced in December 2012.

If Rolex was planning a new Cosmgraph Daytona, the four months between December 2012 and the next Baselworld show in April seems to be bit too short for a whole new design. Still, I think we should expect at the very least, a Formula One themed Chronograph Daytona.
