Debaufre GMT Ocean

Clones. Debaufre is a watchmaker based in the United States which builds watches using Swiss ETA and Unitas movements. The watches built by Debaufre mimic designs by Rolex, Bell & Ross and IWC.

Debaufre GMT Ocean. The Debaufre GMT Ocean is a Rolex GMT Master look-alike. It comes in stainless steel, with a rotating and a familiar looking black, Pepsi (red and blue), Coke (red and black) bezels or in two-tone stainless steel with a black and gold bezel. Covering the dial is a sapphire crystal glass and luminescence is provided via Super-Luminova C1. The watch case is larger than its Rolex counterpart at 42mm. The case is made of 316L stainless steel and is water resistant to an impressive 300 meters.

Powering the watch is a Swiss made ETA 2893-2 movement which produces a Rolex like 28,800 vibrations per hour and which features a independent 24 hour hand and a date displays under a cyclops lens.

Debaufre GMT Ocean II. The Debaufre GMT Ocean II is identical to the GMT Ocean in features, except that it has a fixed (non-rotating) brushed stainless steel bezel. This one looks strikingly similar to Rolex Explorer II.

Like the Rolex Explorer II it comes with two dial options, black and white. While looking like an Explorer II, Debaufre took liberties with the quarter hour markers. I like Debaufre's version more actually.

Fortunately, their prices are not Rolex like. Debaufre GMT Ocean's and Ocean II's retails for US$650 each.

One of these days I should really write about Debaufre Ocean-1 Green with its green bezel and black face that looks a lot like a Rolex Submariner LV... but that is for another day.
