49 mm. Following current bigger is better trends, Oris has a new larger version of its Oris Regulateur “Der Meistertauche" with a new color scheme a much larger case. The orignal model of the Oris regulator divers watch had a fairly large 44 mm case diamter. The newer version is a massive 49 mm across.
Oris Regulateur “Der Meistertauche". The Oris Regulateur “Der Meistertauche" is, as its name implies, a watch employing the regulator design. The regulator watch design was inspired by early marine chronometers. This design features separate axes for the hour, minute and seconds hands. Separate axes were used to reduce the amount of mechanical energy required to drive the gears and friction, in an effort at improving a movement's precision.
The large central hand displays minutes, with the hours and seconds being displayed in sub-dials at the 4 and 10 o'clock positions, respectively. The date is displayed at the 6 o'clock.
Other than the more subdued color scheme of the new 49 mm Oris Regulateur “Der Meistertauche" and the larger case, little has change from its smaller older sibling. Thie 49 mm Oris Regulateur “Der Meistertauche" is powered by the same self winding Oris 649 movement, which is a modified ETA 2836-2 movement, which is used in the 4 mm version. This movement produces 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a 38 hour power reserve.
The Oris Regulateur “Der Meistertauche" is a divers watch with the standard divers 60-minute unidirectional rotating bezel and is water-resistant to 1000 meters.
The 49 mm case is also constructed of titanium, which is a good thing since a steel version of this watch would be incredible heavy. The watch comes with both a rubber strap and a steel bracelet, with a tool used to exchange the two.
