2012 Rolex Yatchmaster - Not much new. Another one of the new watches Rolex has announced at BaselWorld 2012 is a an updated 40 mm Rolex Yacht-Master. It gets the same Oysterlock Clasp with the 5 mm extension link that Rolex has been using in their other Oyster Perpetual Professional series watches they have updated. As far as I can remember, the only two watches still using the old style clasp were the Yacht-Master and the No-Date Submariner 14060M. With the release of a new No-Date Submariner and the update to the 40 mm Yacht-Master line-up, the only watches using the old style clasp would be the mid-sized and ladies Yacht-Master, although I would not be too surprised if these were updated too.
Other than that, the only thing new about the 2012 Yacht-Master is the option for a sun-burst blue dial. The old platinum dial option is still available.
All in all, it really is not a new watch, but the updated clasp was overdue, and the blue dial is nice looking. Rolex does consider it a new model, with the reference number being changed from 16622 to 116622.
