SIHH 2011. Officine Panerai unveiled three chronographs at SIHH 2010. We already covered the Officine Panerai 1950 Chrono Monopulsante Handed 8 Days Titanio PAM00345 in a previous article. The other two are the Luminor case PAM00356 and the Radiomir case PAM00369.
Officine Panerai Luminor Chromo Daylight PAM00356. The Panerai Luminor PAM 356 is 44mm in size, which is the contemporary size for the Luminor design. The case is made of stainless steel and is water resistant to 100 meters. The dial of the PAM 356 displays the hours, minutes, seconds and date on its face. When the chronograph function is activated two sub-dials (at 3 and 6 o'clock) are used to measure periods of time of up to 12 hours.
The movement is a self winding Panerai OP XII calibre, which is a third party movement modified by Panerai. The movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour which results in a nice sweeping movement of the second hands. The watch has a 46 hour power reserve. The chronograph function of this watch are the traditional controls with a start/stop button at 2 o'clock and a reset button at 4 o'clock. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal glass. The case back is unfortunately solid stainless steel, without a window so you cannot see the movement. Chronograph movements in action are a sight to behold.
Officine Panerai Radiomir Chromo PAM00369. The Panerai Radiomir PAM 369 is a smaller 42mm in size. The case is made of stainless steel and is water resistant to 100 meters. The dial of the PAM 369 displays the hours, minutes, seconds and date on its face. When the chronograph function is activated a sub-dials (at 9 o'clock) is used to measure periods of time of up to 30 minutes.
