Instruments. Bell & Ross was created by a team of designers of aircraft and spacecraft instruments, led by French designers Bruno Belamich and Carlos A. Rosillo. Among all the watches in the Bell & Ross line-up the aerospace experience of the companies founders shine through most in its Instrument series of watches. With the introduction in 2005 of the BR 01 Instrument, Bell & Ross created its most iconic design. BR 01 Instrument looked almost like someone had yanked a gauge from a planes cockpit and fitted to a wrist strap. This unique and popular design has since been copied. In 2012, Bell & Ross has taken their creation a step further with three new watches which take the concept of instrument one radical step further, with the introduction of the Bell & Ross BR-01 Altimeter, Horizon and Turn Coordinator.

Bell & Ross BR 01 Turn Coordinator. The BR 01 Turn Coordinator is designed to look like the instrument relied on by pilots to display the rate of turn, roll, and the coordination of the turn.

The BR 01 Turn Coordinator mimics the look of the flight instrument of the same name by creating a dial, which instead of using rotating hands to tell time, uses a rotating dial. With this watch time is read by looking at the fixed hand painted in the crystal and pointed at the 12 o'clock. Three concentric discs rotate under the crystal.
The outermost disc displays the hours while the middle disc displays the minutes. The middle discs displays the running of the seconds, with four white lines.
In the image about, the display time is 12:00. |
The numbers that line-up with the tail of the airplane on the crystal of the watch indicate the time.
The BR 01 Turn Coordinator is a fairly large watch with the square PVD finished case being 46 mm wide. The three concentric circles are protected by a sapphire crystal glass. The case is water resistant to 100 meters. Inside the case is an ETA 2892 movement, which is considered the more upscale of the basic ETA movements.
The BR 01 Turn Coordinator is supplied with a rubber strap. Bell & Ross is only manufacturing a limited run of 999 pieces of this rather interesting watch.
