Baselworld 2010: Oris Col Moschin Limited Edition Divers Watch

Limited Edition - Military Heritage. Oris has released several limited edition watches paying homage to the military recently. Last year, Oris released the Oris Blue Eagles Limited Edition, a BC4 watch. The Blue Eagles are a Swiss Helicopter aerial display team. Another one was the Big Crown Oris Swiss Hunter Team Limited Edition, which pays tribute to the Hawker Hunter fighter plane used by the Swiss Air Force.

At Basel 2010 Oris will be releasing another watch paying homage to the military: The Oris Col Moschin Limited Edition. "Col Moschin" refers to the 9th Airborne Assault Regiment an elite airborne unit of the Italian Army involved is special operations. Contrary to initial impressions, Col Moshin does not refer to a "Colonel Moschin", but to Moschin Hill (Colle Moschin).

The Oris Col Moschin Limited Edition. The Col Moschin is a large 49mm divers watch with a 1000 meter water resistance rating. The watch is case is mostly made of titanium keeoing the weight down. In addition to the time, the Col Moschin has a date and power reserve display on the dial.

The watch has a limited production run of 2000 pieces.

Too big? While there is a trend to bigger watches, Oris Diver's watches just seem to be getting too big. These days every single Oris Divers watch is 44mm or larger. In 2008, we saw the Oris Regulateur “Der Meistertauche" grow from 44mm to 49mm. In 2009 we saw the 51mm Oris ProDiver Chronograph. Unfortunately, as their watches grow, they do not leave any "mid-sized" models ignoring a large portion of the market.

About Oris. Oris is a Swiss watch company founded by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian at Hölstein (Basel-Country) in 1904.
